We are just about six weeks away from the start of the 2014 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and tickets go go on sale Saturday.

Tickets can be purchased through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo website or through any Ticketmaster outlet.  There is a limit of 10 per person.

President of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Leroy Shafer says they have new attractions, more lights, and bigger screens, "Everything looks extremely good right now for a fantastic year.  We just need (good) weather."

Shafer says they are expecting big crowds this year, but they don't expected to break any attendance records, "In all probability we won't break our general attendance record this year because we had that special George Strait day last year so we had 21 performance days last year instead of the 20 performance days this year."

The rodeo begins with the barbeque contest that starts the last weekend in February.  If you would like to buy rodeo tickets over the phone you can call 1-800-726-1313.
