Planned Parenthood's clergy advocacy board is telling prospective clients "abortion is not even mentioned in the Scriptures" and "God loves you and is with you no matter what you decide."

The comments come in a “Pastoral Letter to Patients.”

“Its kind of an odd move to suddenly, with not a whole lot of reason or sense behind it, try to reach out to the religious community and say the Bible doesn't address it,” says Emily Horn at Texas Right to Life.

Some argue Exodus 20:13 or Deuteronomy 30:19 does address the issue abortion.

“The Bible is very clear on protecting the innocent and the voiceless and helpless, and those who can't help themselves,” Horn tells KTRH News.  “So that's just a tone that's cast throughout the Bible in many different other ways other than 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' which is a very clear one.”

Calls seeking comment from Planned Parenthood were not returned.  Either way, Horn believes the move benefits pro-life advocates.

“It could be read as a good thing for us that they're feeling the necessity to reach out to religious observers, because I think that's going to be a much harder sell,” she says.
