One man is dead and four other people are in the hospital after a wrong-way crash in northwest Harris County overnight.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says, an elderly man was driving a Toyota Camry at around 2:30a.m. Sunday morning when he somehow got onto Highway 290 going in the wrong direction.

He was driving inbound in the outbound lanes.

The driver then collided head-on with a Jeep Liberty with four Texas A&M students inside.

The elderly driver died at the scene.

The four college students all were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. 

There were two males and two females in their early 20s in the Jeep.
