A northwest Harris County man is shot during a robbery attempt - while mowing his grass in a neighborhood near West Rd and Veterans Memorial Drive.

The victim told police two men pulled up while he was doing yard work and demanded money.  Two shots were fired when the man refused to surrender his wallet; one bullet grazed him on the stomach, the second shot missed.

Ironically, the robbery victim had no money in his wallet.  He was treated and released from Ben Taub hospital.

A neighbor who witnessed the incident tried chasing the gunmen as they got away, but was unable to get a number from their temporary paper license tag.
