Houston's police chief says the discovery of a dead nine-year-old girl in a refrigerator is simply a dead person investigation so far. Charles McClelland says it's too early to call it a criminal case.
“We have to continue to interview witnesses,” the chief says, “continue to collect evidence, have that evidence examined and, of course, the autopsy.”
McClelland says the medical examiner will determine whether this is a homicide or not. That will be the biggest factor in deciding whether a crime was even committed when the nine-year-old died. Her body was found in a drawer in that refrigerator, months after she died.
