The Houston firefighter that was shot in killed Monday night has been identified.

Police say 27-year-old Samuel Keen was shot and killed while trying to enter the home of his next door neighbor.  The 64-year-old woman says she heard someone trying to get in her home in Montgomery County around 9:30pm Monday night.

She got her pistol and yelled at the person outside, warning them to leave and that she had a gun.  That's when she fired two shots through her front door, hitting Keen.  The 4-year-veteran of the Houston Fire Department was transported to Ben Taub where he was pronounced dead.

Police says friends spent the afternoon with Keen drinking at a bar for St. Patrick's Day, and say Keen took a cab home.
