Police are now warning residents about getting those online shopping packages sent to their home while they are at work.  The warning comes after a rash of thefts of delivered boxes from front porches in one Houston neighborhood.

One resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he had about five-thousand dollars in clothes and jewelry stolen from his doorstep.  He said he was notified of the theft by a Constable who came across a box belonging to the man that the crooks may have dropped.  That resident also said he knew of three or four other people within his neighborhood that also had packages taken.

Police say especially during the holidays thieves are on the lookout for unattended packages left on doorsteps.  They  are advising people to either have parcels sent to their work or to a different address where someone can accept the packages in order to avoid having them stolen.
