As the V.A. scandal continues to grow, many of you are venting to KTRH hosts like Rush Limbaugh.
“They told you that you would get a call back in a couple of days. That was two years ago?” Limbaugh asked a veteran that called into his show.
“Over two years ago,” the vet responded.
But what that California veteran is not what is happening here in Houston. The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center was audited because of the accusations about cooking the books. DeBakey spokeswoman Maureen Dyman told KTRH in the end they got a clean bill of health.
“We heard of no wrongdoing,” Dyman said. “It was a comprehensive audit and there were no problems identified.
Still, some fear that what we're seeing with the V.A. is just a preview of what we could see in a few years under the Affordable Care Act.
“I’ve heard of people who have signed up with Obamacare, and it’s a similar situation (to the V.A. scandal). They still don’t have a card,” Limbaugh said on Monday.
Houston area Congressman John Culberson telling KTRH he has his concerns, too.
“I think the allegations we hear out of the V.A. are what the future holds for America under Obamacare, which is why we have to repeal Obamacare,” Culberson explained.
Culberson says we need to hold every VA hospital across the country to the same standard we're seeing at the DeBakey VA Medical Center.
“We have to demand the system operate as effective as DeBakey does,” Culberson told KTRH News.
You can listen to Rush Limbaugh weekdays from 11am to 2pm on Newsradio 740 KTRH.
