The first storm of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season has now been upgraded to a category one hurricane. The Nation Hurricane Center in Miami says Hurricane Arthur is expected to hit North Carolina's popular Outer Banks are expected to be hit the hardest and tourists have been ordered off Hatteras Island.
Leaving is optional for residents. The storm isn't expected to actually hit land. There is a hurricane warning is up for a wide area of the North Carolina coast and the governor is warning residents to avoid areas of high water.
