It may be coming to Houston. Dallas is now considering joining the list of Texas towns to ban plastic bags at grocery stores. Environmentalists love the idea.

Luke Metzger is director of Environment Texas. He says more cities should do it.

"Banning plastic bans is a great way to help conserve our resources and save money on waste disposal."

Metzger says the plastic bags ban is going well in Austin.

"What we've seen in Austin is that after some initial confusion people have embraced the ban."

Metzger says using your own bags at the grocery store is a return to the past and he thinks most Texans will support it.

"You need to go back to where we were just a few decades ago where our grandparents found it common to bring your own bags to the grocery store to pick up your groceries."

The Dallas city council is considering a ban this week.
