When celebrities are seen in public they almost always carry a Starbucks cup. This can be bad news for parents because although kids are consuming less soda these days -- they're drinking a lot more coffee.

Dr. Amitava Dasgupta is a toxicologist at Houston's UT Health/Memorial Hermann.

"Coffee is an adult drink. People should start drinking when they can vote, like 18."

While Dr. Dasgupta says a little coffee is okay, energy drinks are no good at all.

"And more concern goes to energy drinks because they usually have a lot more caffeine."

Dr. Dasgupta says tea is a much better choice for kids, whose developing brains can be harmed by too much caffeine.

"Developing brain is different than adult brain and caffeine is a stimulant; it can give you palpitations and many other symptoms."
