A 33-year-old man is in stable condition after being transported by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter off of a boat in the waters along Galveston in Southeast Texas.

Coast Guard officials say the unidentified man was aboard a chartered fishing boat about 85 miles off of Galveston on Saturday when he started experiencing stroke-like symptoms.

The fishing boat's captain used a satellite phone to call the Coast Guard, which dispatched a helicopter from Air Station Houston.

The man was transferred to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
