The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) is taking public comment on a proposal to allow alcohol sales at some gun shows.

There are some restrictions; under the plan, guns shows would have to agree to prohibit live ammunition in the same building where the alcohol would be served, require the firearms be disabled and “not readily convertible for use”, and ban the delivery of firearms inside the building.

Under current rules, if a gun show is held at a venue that is already licensed to sell alcohol, sales and consumption are suspended during the time it takes to set up, conduct and dismantle the gun show.

A public hearing will be held on the rules change on August 19th at TABC headquarters in Austin.
