Houston Astros catcher Jason Castro is added to the American League roster for the 2013 All-Star game.  It’s the first all-star appearance for the 26 year old, who is also the only member of the Astros to make the team.

Castro celebrated the announcement by hitting a game-changing 3-run home run in the Astros’ 9-5 win over the Texas Rangers.

Following yesterday’s win, Castro is hitting .271 with 23 doubles, and 31 RBIs. Entering Saturday, he ranked first among AL catchers in extra-base hits (34), second in doubles and fourth in runs (36).

The 84th annual All-Star game will be played July 16 at Citi Field in New York.
