The Texas Board of Education has tentatively approved a biology textbook conservatives claim contains errors about evolution. A final decision is expected in January.

Dan Quinn of the Texas Freedom Network says the idea the textbook is biased or full of errors is ridiculous.

"Just about every scientist that we've spoken with loved these textbooks; they think they cover evolution and climate change appropriately."

But Galveston state Board of Education member David Bradley says the book publisher presents evolution as a fact, rather than theory.

"We've probably got a dozen significant errors in the text that they contend are not errors."

Bradley says students should be allowed to make up their own minds about evolution versus intelligent design.

"Evolution is a theory and the only thing we're requiring is that the student be able to gauge and investigate the strengths and weaknesses of all theories."
