Smartphone market leaders Apple and Samsung could try to integrate some of the features on the new Amazon Fire smartphone.  It was introduced yesterday and will be available for sale July 25th.  High-Tech Texan Michael Garfield says it offers some interesting new features.

“They're pretty much almost game-changing,” Garfield says.  “I certainly could see Samsung, Apple and all the other manufacturers imitating some of the other things.”

You can pre-order one right now at 200 dollars for the basic phone with 32 giga-bytes of space, or 300 for one with 64.  It's expected to run on a modified version of the Android operating system.

“From its specs it’s a doozy,” he says.  “The one way I can sum it up (is):  it is a smart shopping device.  That's really what Amazon is all about.”
