Since hosting its final baseball game in 2000, The Astrodome has become an eyesore and a hot topic among many in the city. Now a new 66 million dollar proposal has been offered up by the Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to tear down the stadium and put up an area similar to that of Discovery Green in downtown Houston.
The project dubbed "The Astrodome Hall of Fame" would also pay tribute to the iconic dome's history. Harris County Judge Ed Emmett has says he is opposed to any plan that tears down the Astrodome
It still has to go through the county commissioners but if approved could be finished before Houston hosts the Super Bowl in 2017.
