A drunk driver running from police crashed through a barricade killing two people at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin.  Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo says 23 others were injured, five of them critically, in the incident around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Witnesses described a gruesome scene with “people flying” and “everywhere you look, somebody’s been hit”.  It happened in downtown Austin on Red River Street near 10th.  The street had been blocked off for festivities at a nearby club where a concert had just let out.
